Proverbs 14:15–16 (NLT)
Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps.
The wise are cautious and avoid danger; fools plunge ahead with reckless confidence.

Proverbs 14:15–16 (ESV)
The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.
One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.

The world teaches us to balance “risk and reward.” That, however, is not what God teaches us. He teaches us to give careful thought to each step we take in life, be cautious, avoid danger, and not believe all we are told. A reckless lifestyle is not God’s plan for your life. There may be thrills and excitement in taking risks, but life has no seatbelts.
